Tyler Shoemaker signs Driver Development Program with Andy Belmont Racing
Mooresville, NC (May 18, 2009), Tyler Shoemaker is proud to announce that he has signed a driver development contract with Andy Belmont Racing (ABR). Shoemaker comes to ABR as an established midget & 410 sprint car driver.
“I am very excited about teaming up with Andy & his team in the ARCA RE/MAX series,” said Tyler. “Andy Belmont Racing is a strong team and I am looking forward to working them. I’ll be looking for the seat time & experience to learn the tracks.”
While the 24 year old from Bloomington, IL doesn’t have much experience in stock cars he has quite an extensive racing background. Tyler’s resume began at the young age of seven in the quarter midget ranks. Tyler also ran go-karts as a child. At the age of 16 he moved to full size cars in the Illini Racing Series running midgets. 2004 presented a new path for Tyler when he began racing a self-owned non-winged 410 sprint car part time. The next year Tyler went for it all & came home the 2005 UMARA Dirt Series Champion. He continued with his efforts in 2006 & 2007 part time while another offer came along in 2007. Dale Ballinger & Tyler paired to run Dale’s United States Auto Club (USAC) midget part time. While Tyler now runs full time for Dale in the USAC ranks he is once again preparing his sprint car to hit the track with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) on board. This time for 16 year old brother Austin Shoemaker to run in some shows the end of the 2009 season. Tyler’s one start in a stock car was in a UMP Modified at Peoria Speedway in April of 2008. After qualifying 16th Tyler was unable to finish due to an overheating engine.
“Tyler has a bright future in the industry and we are looking for great things to come with him,” team manager Andy Belmont stated. “Tyler has an incredible amount of talent and I look forward to working with him.
